Hanoi – Luxembourg and emergency.lu at a High Level Meeting on disaster prevention and relief

Published Sunday November 17 2013

The ASEM High-level meeting on disaster prevention and relief in response to climate change brought together around 80 participants from ASEM countries in Hanoi. From 18 to 19 of November member states presented and exchanged best practices in the field of disaster risk reduction and disaster preparedness. Luxembourg took this opportunity to present emergency.lu, a satellite based telecommunication platform which allows humanitarian workers to reestablish communication within 24hours after a disaster happened. The latest example has been the Philippines where communication services have been made available to local government, UN agencies and NGOs in Tacloban thanks to the deployment of emergency.lu.
