Bangkok symposium on enhancing cooperation and assistance: building synergy towards effective anti-personel mine ban convention implementation

Publié le dimanche 23 juin 2013

Luxembourg was represented through its Embassy at the upcoming Bangkok Symposium on Enhancing Cooperation and Assistance organised within the context of the implementation of the Anti-Personnel Mine Ban Convention. The symposium took place at the Dusit Thani Hotel from 23 – 25 June 2013 with 105 participants from 47 countries and 28 international organizations.

The symposium was one of the initiatives taken by Thailand as co-chair of the Anti-personnel Mine Ban Convention’s Standing Committee on Resources, Cooperation and Assistance. Since 2007 Luxembourg has been actively supporting various initiatives and programs aiming at the removal and destruction of landmines, providing support to victims and supporting national capacities. One objective of the Bangkok Symposium was the publicization and promotion of the United Nations Mine Action Strategy announced in January 2013 and carrying the hope of enhancing further cooperation and assistance between national authorities and regions.
