First awards for LANITH’s « Passport to Success » Training Program

Publié le jeudi 06 juin 2013

The Lao National Institute of Tourism and Hospitality (LANITH) is the leading provider of education and training programs for the tourism and hospitality sector in Laos. Thanks notably to the support of Luxembourg’s development cooperation, it is able to deliver quality tourism and hospitality education and training to an increasing number of motivated Lao professionals.

To stimulate a life-long approach to learning by continually upgrading skills, LANITH promotes “Passport to Success”, an industry training program which allows those already working in the industry to complete a succession of sector related training modules. During a ceremony held on 12 June 2013 at the Ministry of Education and Sports in Vientiane, in the presence of the Deputy Minister of Education and Sports and Head of Luxembourg’s Development Cooperation Office in Laos, Mr. M. Franck, three Lao students were awarded bronze and silver medals after successfully passing a required number of modules. The program is aligned to common ASEAN Tourism Competency Standards. Completing a full set of fifteen modules in areas such as food and beverage service, food production, housekeeping or tour operation leads to a gold medal award.

A two-months intensive “Go for Gold” program will start in July at the newly opened LANITH Satellite Training Centre in Luang Prabang whose food and beverage operation will soon be run by a Michelin-rated Luxembourg chef.
