Luxembourg and Vietnam celebrated 40 years of diplomatic relations and 20 years of development cooperation partnership with a week- long cultural and development cooperation-related programme from 17 to 21 June 2013. The Luxembourg Embassy and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam co-organised a televised programme on tourism and hospitality development in Vietnam, one of the key sectors of the development cooperation programme between Luxembourg and Vietnam. The programme was broadcasted on VTV2 and VTV4 on 21 June.
On 18 June, the focus was on the banking and finance sector, another important field of cooperation, with a forum co-organised by the Luxembourg Embassy, the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Planning and Investment of Vietnam. The two sides exchanged on past and present achievements as well as future cooperation challenges and perspectives.
On 19 June, an electronic music performance by “Sun Glitters” from Luxembourg and Vietnamese percussionist Tran Xuan Hoa attracted a young crowd to the Vietnam Youth Theatre. The music performance was complemented by Luxembourg dancer Sylvia Camarda.
A modern dance performance by Luxembourg dancer Sylvia Camarda, Vietnamese dancer Mai Lan and a dance ensemble of the Youth Theatre took place at the Vietnam Youth Theatre on 20 June.
The celebrations culminated on Friday 21 June with a concert at the Hanoi Opera House to mark this double anniversary and celebrate Luxembourg National Day. The concert showcased the Hanoi Symphony Orchestra, renowned Luxembourg pianist Francesco Tristano and Vietnamese acclaimed conductor Le Phi Phi. It was preceeded by the traditional National Day reception at the same venue.
All these events, co-organised and co-performed by experts, artists and officials from both Luxembourg and Vietnam, reflect the friendship and partnership that exist between the two countries and their peoples.
