Luxembourg helps Lao health sector

Publié le dimanche 02 juin 2013

Rural people of Borikhamxay, Khammuan and Vientiane provinces will soon have better access to medical services, with the Ministry of Health signing off on construction of 10 new dispensaries.

The project, worth about US$2.6 million, is supported by the Luxembourg government through the Lao-Luxembourg Health Sector Support Programme, with two new dispensaries to be built in Vientiane province, four in Borikhamxay province and four in Khammuan province.

The construction of the dispensaries will directly support the Ministry of Health’s five year Health Development Plan for 2011-2015, focusing on improving the health service network. Focal areas include reducing the death rate of mothers and children in rural areas, removing Laos from the list of least developed countries and achieving the Millennium Development Goals related to health sector.
