The   Commission de Surveillance du Secteur financier (CSSF) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Securities and Exchange Commission of Thailand (SEC) to promote collaboration between the fund sectors of Luxembourg and Thailand.

The MoU was signed by Mr Jean Guill, Director general of CSSF, and Dr. Vorapol Socatiyanurak, Secretary-General of SEC on November 28 in the SEC offices in Bangkok. Dr. Vorapol met with CSSF envoy Jean-Marc Goy, Counsel for International Affairs, and H.E. Mr Marc Thill, Luxembourg Ambassador to Thailand.

The MoU aims to enhance collaboration in exchanging information on regulation and supervision of mutual funds and mutual fund-related service providers. In addition, the MoU marks the beginning of a bilateral cooperation that will create business opportunities for investment management companies and capital markets of both countries in the future.

On 30th November Mr. Goy will participate as a panelist at the IOSCO-APRC Seminar in Bangkok. He will talk on the topic of ‘Capitalizing on Regional Growth Prospects: Enlarging Opportunities for Asset Management Companies’, highlighting in particular Luxembourg’s experience in the mutual fund sector, which has propelled the country to the second largest fund market in the world after the United States of America.

The CSSF and SEC are both members of the International Organisation of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) . Luxembourg will host the Annual Conference of IOSCO in September 2013.
