Sapling planting in commemoration of HM Queen Sirikit’s Birthday
On the 24th of July, Ambassador Marc Thill participated, together with representatives of ten other Embassies, at a sapling planting at the International Garden, Benjakitti Park, as part of a joint activity organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand and the Diplomatic Corps in Bangkok to commemorate the 80th Birthday Anniversary of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit.
The International Garden Project was originally conceived to commemorate the 72nd Birthday Anniversary of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit in 2004, at a time when the Embassy of Luxembourg did not yet have local premises in Bangkok. Ambassador Thill planted the sapling of a “Sathon” tree, the event being commemorated by a metal plaque bearing the name of the Embassy of Luxembourg.
