A new hospital to be constructed in Bolikhamxay province in Laos with support from Luxembourg Development Cooperation

Published Monday June 22 2015

On June 22, Lao Minister of Health, Prof. Dr. Eksavang Vongvichit, signed the contract with a Lao-Viet company for the upgrade and construction of the Bolikhamxay provincial hospital in Pakxan. The construction is supported under the Lao-Luxembourg Health Sector Support Programme implemented by LuxDev which aims at improving the quality and availability of health services in the three central provinces of Vientiane, Bolikhamxay and Khammouan. Strengthening of health interventions at provincial and district level, especially targeting maternal and child health, has been a long time focus of Luxembourg’s assistance to Laos. In Bolikhamxay province this is further complemented by support to rural development in the three poorest districts in a holistic approach aiming at improved living conditions of the most vulnerable populations.
