Applying to vote by post in the European elections

Published Wednesday February 20 2019

In order to be able to vote in the 26 May European elections, which is compulsory for any voter registered on an electoral roll , regardless of their nationality (Luxembourgish or from an EU Member State), a postal voting system has been put in place for all voters to prevent abstention.

As required by law, the request for a postal vote must be sent to the municipality, where the voter must vote, no earlier than 12 weeks and no later than 40 days before polling day, if the letter of convocation must be sent abroad (n.b. The deadlines are different for people voting by mail in Luxembourg).

Consequently, the request for a vote must be sent to the municipality where the elector must vote, no earlier than 4 March and no later than 16 April.

All practical information concerning the procedure to follow can be found on the website of the guichet.lu
