Appointment of Mr. Pierre Metz, honorary consul of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg in Bangkok (Thailand), with jurisdiction within the City of Bangkok
On 21 July 2012, Mr. Pierre Metz was appointed, by grand-ducal order, honorary consul of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg in Bangkok (Thailand), with jurisdiction within the City of Bangkok and for a renewable period of five years.
The handing over of the exequatur, delivered by His Majesty the King of Thailand on 11 October 2012, and the swearing-in of Mr. Metz took place at the embassy of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg in Bangkok on 18 December 2012. Henceforth, Mr. Metz assumes his consular responsibilities while the official inauguration of the honorary consulate is planned to take place in the beginning of 2013.
After studying among other faculties at the Institute of International Relations in Paris, Mr. Metz pursued an international professional carrier taking him to Taipei, London, New York, Duisburg and Bangkok where he settled down in 1989. Since 1990, he holds the position of foreign trade counselor of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg in Thailand. He has been involved in organising several ministerial visits and economic missions, this way actively contributing to their success. Considering his deep understanding of Thai economy and Thai society and knowledge about Bangkok, he will certainly provide valuable advices and services to the increasing number of Luxembourgish citizens residing in Thailand or visiting the country. Moreover, he will continue to contribute to the development of bilateral economic relations between the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and the Kingdom of Thailand.

Par arrêté grand-ducal du 21 juillet 2012, Monsieur Pierre Metz a été nommé consul honoraire du Grand-Duché de Luxembourg à Bangkok (Thaïlande), avec juridiction sur la ville de Bangkok, pour une période renouvelable de cinq ans.
Le 18 décembre 2012, ont eu lieu à Bangkok, dans les bureaux de l’Ambassade du Grand-Duché de Luxembourg en Thaïlande, la remise de l’exequatur délivré en date du 11 octobre 2012 par Sa Majesté le Roi de Thaïlande, ainsi que la prestation de serment de Monsieur Metz. Monsieur Metz pourra donc dès cette date exercer ses fonctions consulaires ; l’inauguration officielle du consulat honoraire aura lieu à une date ultérieure, au début de l’année 2013.
Après avoir terminé ses études universitaires, notamment à l’Institut des Relations Internationales de Paris, Monsieur Pierre Metz a entamé une carrière professionnelle internationale qui l’a conduit successivement à Taipei, Londres, New York, Duisburg et Bangkok, où il réside depuis 1989. Depuis 1990, Monsieur Metz occupe la fonction de conseiller du commerce extérieur du Grand-Duché de Luxembourg en Thaïlande et, à ce titre, a contribué activement à l’organisation et à la réussite de plusieurs visites ministérielles et missions économiques dans ce pays. Fin connaisseur de la société et de l’économie thaïlandaises ainsi que de la ville de Bangkok, Monsieur Metz saura fournir de précieux conseils et services au nombre croissant de ressortissants luxembourgeois qui y résident ou séjournent et continuer à contribuer au développement des relations économiques bilatérales entre le Grand-Duché de Luxembourg et le Royaume de Thaïlande.
