Says Iwona Piórko, European Union Ambassador to Singapore: “The 15th edition of the Study In Europe Fair takes place during an exceptional time in our history as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to impact everyone globally. Given this situation, we at the EU in Singapore have re-positioned our key public diplomacy initiatives. Presenting ‘Study In Europe’ as a fully digital fair underscores the EU’s continued commitment to higher education in these unprecedented times.”

INCREASED PARTICIPATION BY COUNTRIES AND UNIVERSITIES

The 21 European countries represented at the fair are: Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Malta, The Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland. They bring together over 150 universities on one digital platform.

The Fair connects undergraduate and post-graduate students in Singapore with universities from these countries, providing students access to information about education institutions, the application process, student life, details of various bond-free scholarships and highlights the many universities where courses are conducted in English.

WEBINARS

The Fair’s digital platform offers students based in Singapore and beyond the chance to participate in close to 30 webinar sessions. Students will speak with education counsellors from the participating European countries as well as university representatives to learn more about study options available to them in Europe. The Webinar sessions will cover topics such as living in Europe and adapting to European cultures, the university application process, the overview of specific university courses to acquiring global skills through travel and study abroad.

ERASMUS+ AND OTHER EU PROGRAMMES

Study In Europe also highlights and helps promote EU education programmes such as Erasmus+, SHARE and EURAXESS.

2021 marks the 34th year of the EU's student exchange programme Erasmus+, which enables university students to study or intern in a European country. It offers students a chance to broaden their horizons as they explore European cultures and gain insights into Europe. Erasmus+ funding includes support for education and training of staff, youth workers, and partnerships between universities, colleges, schools, enterprises, and not-for-profit organizations. The Erasmus+ Diaries | The European Journey webinar conducted as a

conversation between Adrian Veale, Policy Officer at the European Commission and Mertice Ho, a trainee with the EU Delegation in Singapore will provide students in-depth insights into the programme.

At Study In Europe, students can also learn more about SHARE, the ASEAN-EU project Supporting Higher Education in the ASEAN Region. Funded by the European Union, SHARE encourages student mobility within the ASEAN region. With a funding of EUR 10 million, SHARE has already provided 400 scholarships for ASEAN students to study in other ASEAN countries, replicating the Erasmus+ intra-EU scholarship scheme. At the Fair, SHARE will present the Webinar titled SHARE Programme: Intra-ASEAN Student Exchange Scholarships.

For the first time, Study In Europe will include the participation of EURAXESS, a platform for researchers, entrepreneurs, universities and businesses to interact with each other.  A Webinar titled EURAXESS – Your Gateway to the European Research Area. How to do a funded PhD in Europe: Roundtable with Singaporean doctoral candidates will be presented at the Fair. EURAXESS connects researchers in ASEAN with Europe through a research portal that provides a range of information and support services to researchers who wish to study or work in Europe or stay connected to it.
